Slingo is not just another place to play free games online. It’s a website where people connect and build meaningful relationships around casual games. Slingo players form such authentic connections with each other that a passionate group of Slingo 5 Card players have single-handedly organized a Slingo event in Oklahoma. A group of about 50 people have met to celebrate Slingo in person for the first time, after playing together and connecting online.

Slingo really is something special to be able to compel everyday people to organize an event on their own. The main organizer of the event Lenda, or Lendegirl4u as she’s know on Slingo.com, has played Slingo since the first day it was released in 1997 on AOL and now plays on http://www.slingo.com where she wakes up at 6AM to play, often playing all night long.

The group of Slingo 5 Card players, have such a strong bond from playing online that it’s akin to a family relationship. So much in fact that when a member of the clan hasn’t been spotted online for awhile other members call Lenda, the group appointed Queen of the room, to check up on everyone. The band of Slingo 5 Card players have connected so deeply that they all know each others grandkids and dog’s names and have added each other to their Christmas card list.

“We really want to thank Slingo for standing behind us on this party. This was the best thing we’ve done in our Oklahoma 5 Card room, Next year will be bigger and better for sure. All Rooms should try this. And not fight so much.

Our Slingo Oklahoma room is so great that we’ve had people from other rooms come in, play and then tell us they had so much fun in our room because of the things we say and the fun we have with each other. They have told us how they would laugh so hard the whole time they played with us.

Even at the party, we were pulling jokes on each other and getting along together like a family. We also had people pass by, stop and ask what kind of party were we having, of course we would start yelling very loud, WE ARE HAVING A SLINGO PARTY! LOL” said Lenda, the organizer of the event.

“We sat around our campfire laughing like a bunch of teenagers wandering who would show up and what they would look like we really had a good time I would like to say a heart felt thank you to lenda, vickie and deb for all of your help we couldn’t have done it without all the help okay guys and gals only 362 days to go till we meet again.” said Jackie, known on the Slingo website as oilfieldmom, the treasurer of the event.

The center of Oklahoma was chosen as the location for the event that was held on May 17th at the Thunderbird Lake, Hog camp site at the Lake Thunderbird State Park. This Slingo family celebrated with a BBQ diner, music from a live DJ, good old fashioned conversation, and entertainment like karaoke, games with prizes and a cake featuring the Slingo logo. Pictures of the event were taken by a professional photographer and are available on the Slingo blog.

So much buzz was beginning to form in the Slingo 5 Card game chat room that the attendees had to stop talking about it for fear of poachers showing up at what may become an annual event.

As soon as Slingo heard the news, they rushed to support their loyal players by providing prizes including Slingo T-shirts, key chains, mouse pads, travel mugs, license plate frames, tote bags, Slingo CD-Roms and name tags.

“It warms my heart to see the joy that Slingo brings to so many people. I’m amazed at the passion people have about Slingo to inspire them to do things like this event.” said Sal Falciglia, the creator of Slingo.

To most casual game players the draw is taking a break and relaxing with a quick fun game, on Slingo it’s all about forming genuine relationships.
